Consistency: The lie you’ve been told that you believe will help you attract more clients

Uncategorized Jul 06, 2020

Too busy to read this blog...well I’ve got your back friend. I’ve recorded an audio clip, so you can listen to it easily.

“How often should I post Kathryn?”
“How many emails should I send per week?”

Are two of the most common questions I get asked inside my Messaging that Sells Accelerator program.

“Consistency” is what most experts talk about. And it’s the trap most people fall into. It’s the lie you’ve been told that you believe will help you attract more clients.

Keep showing up.
Keep creating content.
And eventually, it will pay off.

While I believe consistency is important, it’s not that important if you aren’t converting your audience from lurkers into clients.

Creating content without conversions as your end goal is just creating content without intention.

*facepalm*

And it’s the way you’ll end up spending your days glued to your phone or computer and chained to the app.

For most of my clients, it’s a depressing reality they want to avoid. For most of them, they are creators at heart. Experts in their field.

And they love to spend their time devoted to their craft such as:

  • Art
  • Painting
  • Writing
  • Crafting
  • Meditation
  • Healing
  • Dancing

They want to create a business doing what they love, but soon realize they are trapped on the content creation hamster wheel with little to show for it.

  • Low engagement
  • Little to no sales
  • No real traction

And they start to wonder, is this even worth it? Why am I spending all this time creating content when no one seems to care?

I just wish people would engage and let me know what I am putting out matters.

Have you found yourself asking these questions or thinking these thoughts?

If so, you aren’t alone!!

That is why I want to share three quick tips for creating content that converts. Because I’ll be the first to say you don’t need to live on social media to build a profitable and sustainable business.

In fact, it’s the opposite. Spending less time on the app and more time doing what you love is the first step to creating killer content.

But for those of you looking for practical and strategic ways to write content that converts, below are the three steps I use each time I’m sitting down to write any of my content.

1. Identify WHO the Content is For

Knowing where your audience is in life and/or business when they are seeking your help is the golden ticket to craft content that speaks directly to them. The more they can relate to your content the more likely they’ll start paying attention and engaging with what you are putting out there.

2. Identify the PURPOSE for the Content

Each time you create content you should ask yourself what actions you are hoping for your audience to take. For example, do you want them to comment, share, like, or download something? We want to be as direct in asking for what we want otherwise we are leaving it up to our audience to figure out what we want.

End your content with a specific Call to Action (CTA)!!

3. Get Uber Specific

Being too broad is one of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make when creating content. They speak in generalities such as wanting more freedom, happiness, healthy living, or more money.

While those are all great things to strive for, they are still too broad. Freedom to me might mean something totally different to someone else. For example, freedom to some might mean more opportunities to travel, while to others it might mean being able to attend their kid's school play.

See how much more specific those statements are compared to just saying wanting more freedom. If you focus on creating more specific content, you’ll start to gain more conversions.

These three tips will help you get started in creating content that converts. I also have a 6-step content that converts framework. These 6 steps ensure that your content will move your audience to take action.
